Through her concept, both figuratively and literally, Holmes is drawing on the beauty that lies in between the shadows.

Working with a vintage film light, Holmes casts shadows of personal items onto finished works exploring negative space and composition. She then paints across the works, obscuring the piece enabling her to follow the shadow line and add an additional layer to the artworks/story.

Through ‘SHADOW SILHOUETTE,’ Holmes explores the mystery of what is underneath the layers. Balancing harmony within the spectrum of colour.

Usually, Sydney-based artist draws on colour psychology and her environment on Guringai Land (Sydney’s Northern Beaches) for an ever-evolving source of inspiration in her abstract paintings.
