LIPS is a provocative photobook by Belgian artist and publisher Jurgen Maelfeyt, focusing exclusively on the lips of white women adorned in various shades of red lipstick. The images, sourced from advertising campaigns, are tightly cropped to isolate the lips, compelling the viewer to confront the objectification inherent in such representations. This minimalist approach critiques the commodification of female beauty and the reduction of identity to mere physical features.
