Radical Media Archive Vol 1/7

Radical Media Archive vol.1 (2025) is the first instalment in a seven-part series exploring the visual languages of countercultural, revolutionary, personal, and mass-emancipation movements from the 1960s and 1970s. It is not a manifesto, but rather a document of a time when graphic designers ranging from the completely unknown to icons like Milton Glaser channeled their talents into the causes they believed in. Some of these causes were righteous and successful; others were excessive, flawed, or doomed from the outset. The book places these provocative visuals alongside record sleeves, underground comix, and even contemporary advertising to illustrate that, whatever the ideology, this was an era of extraordinary richness and inspiration in graphic design.
